Analysis of practice music video

In last weeks lesson we were split into two groups to go and have a practice at making a short music video. In my group I worked with Archie, Naveed and Niall. When we were put into the group we decided to pick the song I want to break free by QUEEN. The video had to include a variety of shots such as long shot, extreme close up, panning shot, low shot, high shot and over the shoulder shot. It also had to include lip syncing. We had a volunteer to play our main character and who would also lip sync to the song. We all had an equal part in the process of making the video, we all came up with ideas for the video and we had someone anchorage of filming the video. We had 3 scenes for our video which were a gym, a grassy outdoor area and a car. Before filming the video we practised our scenes around 3 times to get it as best as we could. We used an IPhone 7 to record the video as it has an extremely high quality camera on it and we used the software iMovies to put the footage together. I was very pleased with the final product of the video considering the short amount of time we had to film it and put it together. If i was to film it again and have another attempt i would most certainly include the whole song and make it more lengthy, I would also include both genders in my video to show equality and I would spend more time working on the sound quality of the video, so all you can hear is the music and not other sounds such as the car revving. Overall I am very happy with the final product and it has gave me a lot of confidence for when planning, organising and filming my final piece.

analysis of outdoor shots

I have experimented some camera shots for my outdoor scenes in my video. I would like to use long shots, close ups, extreme close ups, over the shoulder, panning shots and tracking shots in my video. I especially want to use tracking and over the shoulder because it will make the viewer feel like they are in the video and are a part of the scenery.

Scene plan and next steps

These are the scenes I have thought up and created which link to the lyrics of the song. I understand scenes are subject to change but I believe I have some very good ideas. My plan now is to get some shots of my filming locations and to rehearse filming my video. I also need to get some headshots and costume for my characters.

Character stories for my music video

The Stripper(Londy)- The stripper is struggling for money and can't get employed so she sells herself for sex at parties. She has a son at home who needs feeding and is living in harsh living conditions. She is also feeling very suicidal and had a very tough up bringing.

The Strippers son- The son of the stripper lives an extremely poor life. He is often left at home all alone whilst his mother goes out to make money as a stripper. He has very little to eat and lives in a house which is very bare, rundown and dirty.

The strippers sister- I will use the strippers sister to relate to the lyrics ' cause me and my sister ran away so our daddy couldn't rape us'. Both sisters have had a tough upbringing an they end up running away from home together so they can't be abused by their father.

The strippers husband- The strippers husband has had a life of going in and out of prison for various offences, he is not in a relationship with the stripper and is smoking crack cocaine.

The lead singer- The lead singer who will lip sync to the song is at a party with friends and notices an old school friend is working as aspire there with 6 other women. The lead singer is a sophisticated and smart man and asks the stripper why she is doing this to her self and tells her to pick herself up and sort her life out.
